Believe, Gratitude

My Big Adventure

Well, it’s here.  I will be boarding my flight to Athens in 28 hours and after that on to Rhodes.  I honestly can’t believe it is here.  I started planning this trip what feels like ages ago.  This is going to be a very different kind of trip. The reason is I am taking a much different approach this time for a good portion of it.  I have 30 days in Greece with only 7 days of hotel accommodations booked. I want to truly let go and let Gd guide me.  I’ve read about women that have done this and couldn’t imagine having the courage to step out on faith like that.  I was once the woman that knew where she would be and what she would be doing 6 months in advance.  Over time I learned that the less I plan the better it is.  For me, this is the ultimate leap of faith.

Let me be clear, I am taking care of myself.  I have reached out to members of Narcotics Anonymous in Rhodes and have the meeting schedule so I can connect with members Tuesday night in addition to having a couple contacts in WhatsApp.  I always do this when I go anywhere. What a great way to meet new people and experience different NA meetings.

I have tons of posts from Facebook pages I have been following with things people have done places they visited.  Typically, I will get up in the morning and figure out what I am going to do and might even change my mind on the way.  This is one of the many gifts of travelling solo.

It will be interesting to see how this plays out when it comes to day trips on ferries.  Since it won’t be the height of tourist season, I believe I will be ok.  What I have no doubt about is that I will be exactly where I am supposed to be doing exactly what I am supposed to do the entire trip.  The reason I know this is because I have a track record.  Any time I get out of the way and let Gd do what Gd does, it is always perfect.

I’m excited abut spending Rosh Hashana there and experiencing another culture with people I don’t know.  No doubt the memories will last a lifetime.  At the same time, I am sad that I won’t be with those I love nor hearing my amazing Chabad Rabbi at his Inspirational Service.

After this I will be in Barcelona for 5 days followed by a Virgin Voyages cruise from Barcelona to Miami.  I’ve already connected with several people and have plans pre-cruise and the day we board.  Grateful I am always willing to put myself out there because these are the types of amazing things I get to experience.

I have no idea what Gd has in store for me long term.  There are no words to express my gratitude for being able to take this trip.  I want to travel as far away as I can for as long as I can.  After that, I will travel in the US. At least that is my plan.  Hopefully Gd and I are on the same page, but if not, it’s ok.

I will be posting tons of pictures and lots of my experiences on Facebook.  Someone taught me to do this years ago.  It allowed me to visit places I may never see through their eyes. I loved feeling like I was there with them. I plan to write blogs on some of it because of an idea I am noodling.

Get ready, because I believe it is going to be amazing experience!

  • Dear John, I doubt you will ever see this since you blocked me yesterday after I accidentally sent you a message that didn’t align with your political views.  When you sent me the note yesterday to never contact you again, I was frankly in shock.  I tried replying to apologize
I walked through a Publix parking lot this afternoon and noticed a lot of guys carrying flowers and balloons. Initially, this was a reminder that, on yet another Valentine’s Day, I am alone. But as I walked in and saw display tables lined with even more flowers and balloons, my
*In January 2014, I was diagnosed with breast cancer. My diagnosis would begin an incredible journey I never would have known to pray for. Nine months later, I wrote this letter. Dear Cancer, I am a bit surprised that I didn’t think of writing this letter sooner, but I feel
Dear Gene, First things first, happy birthday! I know you are in heaven with Mommy and Daddy, but it is still the day you came into this world. I think of you every year on your birthday even though we haven’t seen each other since 1984 and haven’t spoken in
